Max Kennedy with Robert John Cook

Robert John Cook has been commissioned by Mr. Max Kennedy to work with pieces of shipwreck Max found diving off the shores of Cape Cod. Regarding receiving the commission Cook said, “I am honored to work with Max, he is a very kind and genuine person. I value our friendship. And his father, Robert, is a childhood hero of mine. “

Robert John Cook is considering mounting the large number of pieces of varying sizes on driftwood, with scrimshawed ivory nameplates. Cook is currently working with the Cape Cod Maritime Museum toward potentially collaborating on an Exhibition.

I love Alfred Sisley’s work! 

Other than inside books, the first painting I saw of Sisley’s was The Bridge at Moret-sur-Loingshown at Musée d’Orsay in Paris.  He became without doubt to me the Impressionist of all Impressionists.

'Red House' by Robert John Cook

This morning I sent my 4ooth Twitter.  I wrote: “This is my 400th Twitter, trying to think of something celebratory to say with less than 140 characters is hard, maybe by 500th I’ll get it!”  Funny as it is, my statement consumed exactly 140 characters, go figure.

Using Social Pages, such as Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn is wonderful for an Artist working in the studio all day.  It’s a nice way to put the paint bruch down for a few minutes and ‘strecth the legs’ with other people — working alone can become isolating.

Robert John Cook's Studio

There are times when working on a piece that I don’t come up for air.  I love working in the studio!

Most mornings I awake before the kids start their day.  I gingerly make my coffee and slip into the studio before the sun rises.  It’s in the early morning that I click on a few internet buttons and listen to either www.KKCR.org or www.KBAC.com for my morning fill of Hawaii or Santa Fe while I work.  Coffee and good music are a good mix to start to the day off as I work my art.

The past few mornings I have been relentless in finishing older pieces that have been sitting on a shelf for a few months.  Rich Koury of www.NarrowlandGallery.com has really inspired me.  Rich’s passion for productivity in the studio is wonderfully contagious!

Cape Cod Artist Robert John Cook Now Represented by Narrowland Gallery in Chatham

Chatham, MA – September 18, 2010

Cape Cod art brings to mind sailboats in a harbor, children with pails and shovels at the water’s edge and baskets of hydrangea flowers. The paintings of Robert John Cook are inspired by the beauty of the shores, harbors and meadowlands of Cape Cod which he transfers to canvas using oil paint, palette knife and brush to create landscapes and seascapes.   The texture and depth of his paintings, the multi layers of paint, bring to life the image, inviting the viewer to explore his work and discover their own interpretations.
